THE STORY
It was founded as the CMN Ride-a-thon
in 2002 by Tom Donegan, Broker/Owner
of RE/MAX Premier, www.Sellahome.com,
with offices in Fairfax and
Dulles, Virginia, and former
Washington Redskin David Harbour,
a fellow Harley rider and sales
associate. Concerned by seeing
innocent children being denied
the opportunity to pursue their
dreams due to illnesses and
other obstacles, they decided
to do something about it! Inspired
by the hope and perseverance
of these children and with the
support of friends and volunteers
drawn from the local business
and professional community,
a community event was organized
to raise funds. "By combining
fundraising for a terrific cause,
a hobby you love, and some great
publicity for your real estate
brokerage, we were able to score
this winning hat trick with
the First Annual Children's
Miracle Network/RE/MAX Premier
Motorcycle Ride-a-thon and Festival.",
Donegan says.
SIGNIFICANT RESULTS
Over the last five years, the motorcycle ride has raised over $120,000 for Children's Hospital in Washington D.C. Over the past 9 years RE/MAX Premier has raised over $390,000 for Children's Miracle Network thanks to the generosity of their agents and staff. RE/MAX Premier takes their relationship with CMN very seriously and thus is the exclusive real estate sponsor. Annually, the office is a top contributor for the children's charity.
THIS YEAR'S PLANS
Plans for this year's event are well underway, RE/MAX Premier's Tom Donegan expects the Rock-n-Ride to attract even more in 2007 in terms of participants, community attention, and dollars for the Children's Miracle Network. This year's event will be conducted in partnership with the Loudoun County Crime Commissions and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department -- which will feature a motorcycle display and equipment demonstrations. The Rock 'n Ride will sponsor food vendors and a silent auction featuring sports and Hollywood memorabilia -- plus great music from the classic rock band WildCard. |
